Panasonic Toughpad A1 Rugged Android Tablet

Panasonic has introduced a new rugged tablet of its own at the CommunicAsia 2012 Singapore named the Panasonic Toughpad A1. This new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich tablet comes with a 10.1-inch touch LED backlit display the resolution of which is XGA (1024 x 768) pixels. It enables 500-nit brightness, and daylight-readable screen. This new business tablet has been made of magnesium alloy chassis with ABS and elastomer for ensuring a sealed all-weathered design. The new Panasonic Toughpad A1 tablet meets MIL-STD-810G and IP65 certified.

As for its specs, the Panasonic Toughpad A1 is based on a dual-core 1.2GHz processor with 1GB of RAM, and 16GB SSD. It has a MicroSD/SDHC card slot (up to 32GB), a back 5MP camera and a 2MP front-facing camera. There is also a stylus with signature capture and handwriting recognition functionalities.

Among the connectivity features of the Panasonic Toughpad A1 are Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, GPS, 3G or optional 4G (LTE/WiMAX), microUSB and MicroHDMI ports. The battery of the tablet is 4590mAh battery, which enables 10 hours of runtime. The dimensions of the tablet are 266.3 x 212 x 17 mm and its weight is 970 grams.
The Panasonic Toughpad A1 will be available in the US in August for $1,600, while the consumers In the Asia Pacific market should wait for it in September.
